Our focus areas

An integrated approach to build a equitable and empowered society

Mission & Vision

OUR VISION

Our vision is to address the rights of the entire universe of children - both in school and out of school in the age group of 5-14 years.

OUR MISSION

To shift the strategy from being an implementing partner to becoming a training and resource center to other NGOs leading a new path to awareness and community development.

Programs

Community Empowerment Programs

BASS approach is based on a empowered community group that assure no child works and that all children in the 5-14 years age group must be in school. It follows an ‘area-based approach’ as against a target based approach.
BASS has been actively involved in elimination of child labor through education and has so far mainstreamed over 1500 children from work and into full time formal education till they complete class 10.

Back to School Program

Understanding the importance of government schools in every aspect of learning, BASS has also brought over 15 government school, 200 teachers and SMC members together under the banner of Forum for Child Rights. Active involvement in SMC made great changes in government schools in many aspects-enrollment, education quality, beautification of school, less dropout of girl students etc., Similarly, some of its strategies notably the bridge course tuition classes which are instruments of change which help in mainstreaming older children, who have been out of the school system for longer periods of time, have been acknowledged and accepted by the Government of India. Awareness Campaign with all child welfare departments are encouraged.

Child Rights Advocacy and Empowerment Program

BASS organizes awareness camps on child rights in schools in collaboration with Childline and CWC, conducts surveys to identify school dropouts and child laborers, and connects them to mainstream education. It also holds awareness sessions on labor laws, government schemes, women’s helplines, and legal services in workplaces. Additionally, the organization offers a Child Rights Defender Certificate Course, in partnership with Independent Thought, to educate adolescent girls about their rights. Members of the Child Rights Protection Committee (CRPC) are empowered through a certificate course on child rights laws, fostering their knowledge and advocacy capabilities.
